Beyond Brokenness

Tuesday 11th October 2022

1. You represent the calabash

2. God can use anything, any circumstance or situation to break us – death of a loved one, stubborn spouse or child, wicked boss, marital
challenges, poverty, sickness, etc.
Crashing with stone: the harder we prove to be, the harder the crashing. (Think about the stories of Jonah and Paul in the Bible)

3.When we are broken, we feel pain, hurt, dejected, unwanted, worried, sad, frustrated, depressed, discouraged, etc

4. Being broken is not the end of your life. You have the will power to rise up and put yourself together

5. In our brokenness, let’s find good support systems and persons who can help us to thorough the pain. e.g God,family members, friends, church, religious groups, etc.
6. Henceforth, God holds us when we submit yield to him in our broken state and we become stronger His hands.

KEY LESSONS
·Forgiveness for the person who caused you to be broken is key in order to receive total healing.·No matter how broken you are, you can be fixed or mended.
·In your brokenness God is always ready to mould you into something beautiful and useful for His purpose.

EXAMPLES OF CHARACTERS IN BIBLE WHO WERE BROKEN
Abraham, Naomi, David, Jesus Christ, etc
Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit. (NKJV Jn 12:24).

CALABASH ACTIVITY
1. Get a medium sized calabash.
2. Crash the calabash (with hands or stone or even use your feet to stamp on it, etc)
3. Now that the calabash is broken into pieces, use marker to write on each broken piece a broken state you are in e.g. dejected, depressed, disappointed, angry, hopelessness, sad, trampled upon, disgraced, etc
4. Now try and mend your broken calabash by using glue or cello tape.
5. Now write behind the calabash the sources of support available for you in your broken state. E.g. God, people, systems or institutions.
6. Henceforth, you become careful when holding the calabash because it is patched together. God is interested in restoring His children and to win them back to Himself. He is interested in our character (having the mind of Christ) and to bless us. In the process of doing that, we will be
broken many times.

BEYOND BROKENNESS
When we are broken, we become fragile, softened, weak, humble and realize we can do nothing by ourselves.
We are stronger when we are in God's hands. In the hands of the Master, we can move mountains, leap walls, yield
much fruits and do exploit fit for His use. It takes longer to fix broken things than destroying what is whole so we should have patience with our sisters, husbands, children, friends etc because they are being fixed and Its only God who can complete the process.
